I have been privileged to work in healthcare for 25 years in a variety of roles, most recently within Risk Management. The learning journey from healthcare management to risk seemed to have a natural component of becoming involved with ISHRM first as a member and then with the opportunity to serve on the board. The commitment to quality, safety, and promoting excellence in healthcare is evident in all that ISHRM offers as an organization and I am proud to serve and learn alongside colleagues from around the state. - Kelley Kurtz

Having been a leader in the healthcare risk management industry for many years, accepting an opportunity to serve on the ISHRM Board seemed to be the next logical step. Serving has allowed me to stay more closely attuned to the risk education needs of our members, and to enhance my own skills and knowledge. - Beth Michel

With nearly 20 years of experience in the medical malpractice insurance industry, serving on the ISHRM board has given me a better understanding and appreciation for the risk management and patient safety issues that our clients face every day. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve and support the healthcare risk administrators here in Indiana and beyond. -Jennifer Wiggins

I joined ISHRM as a seasoned nurse however I was brand new to risk management. I knew needed to gain knowledge, expand my resource pool and gain new networking friends in order to be successful in this role. ISHRM has provided me with education and connections to other risk professionals that have been tremendously helpful to me. Being a part of ISHRM means I can learn from others' experiences and also share with others who may learn from my experiences. Sharing and building knowledge makes all of us stronger which makes the care we provide our communities safer. -Angie Lucas

When I started in Risk Management in 2002, ISHRM became my first resource on how to be a healthcare risk manager. Over the past 20 years, ISHRM has provided consistent and high-quality education programs. ISHRM also provides a network of other risk managers willing to help answer questions, provide insight, and generally support other members. This led to being involved with committees and leadership within ISHRM. All of these experiences were enhanced with our connection to ASHRM for even broader views, knowledge, resources, and opportunities. I still believe local chapters are the foundation to the successful support of healthcare risk managers. - David Petrous
