ISHRM Board Positions

All terms run from January of calendar year to January.

 
  • Serves as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participates in at least 75% of Board conference calls/meetings.

  • Establishes agenda, meeting times and dates for all meetings.

  • Chairs the Board and regular business meetings.

  • Establishes short-term and long-term goals and objectives with input from the Board and ISHRM membership.

  • Acts as ISHRM’s representative in ISHRM matters.

  • Is responsible for ongoing review of ISHRM’s goals and objectives.

  • Appoints and directs committees as appropriate.

  • Submits the Annual Report to membership at ISHRM’s annual business meeting.

  • Is a current ASHRM member.

  • Attends ASHRM conference on behalf of ISHRM.

  • Introduces new members at ISHRM meetings.

  • With Board’s approval, manages contracts with ISHRM vendors (i.e. website and social media development/maintenance, conference registration/hosting needs).

President


Past President

  • Serves as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participation in at least 75% of Board conference calls/meetings.

  • The Past President functions as the President until an election is conducted should the offices of President and President-Elect be vacated.  

  • In collaboration with the Board, annually solicits nominations from membership, reviews candidates, selects the winner of the Glenn T. Troyer award, and arranges for ordering/delivery of plaque.

  • Assist the current President and other Board members to develop, review and implement goals and objectives.

  • Assist the current President and other Board members in carrying out their assigned duties in governing ISHRM.

  • Solicits and oversees corporate sponsorship annually.


President Elect

  • Serves as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participates in at least 75% of quarterly Board conference calls/meetings. 

  • In collaboration with the Board, manages the development of educational conferences, including agendas, topics, recruiting guest speakers, attaining continuing education credits, and arranging for conference day-of details (live or virtual venue).

  • Functions as the President should the office be vacated or if the President is unavailable.


Treasurer

  • Serves as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participation in at least 75% of Board conference calls/meetings.

  • Receives, records and deposits: annual membership dues, meeting registration fees, donations, and any other miscellaneous funds received.

  • Pays all expenses for ISHRM, including but not limited to, educational meetings, speaker expenses, printing costs, mailing costs, and chapter supplies.

  • Maintains and balances ISHRM’s accounting records.

  • Prepares the Treasurer’s report, showing debits and credits, prior to each Board meeting and/or at the request of the Board.

  • Prepares annual Indiana Not-for-Profit tax returns according to Indiana requirements.

  • Provides name and demographic information of new members to the appropriate Member-At-Large.

  • Ensure that two Board officers are authorized to sign checks the primary signature being that of the Treasurer.

  • Ensure that the President has ability to use ISHRM debit card to engage with new vendors as approved by the Board (i.e. to facilitate conference registration/hosting needs).

  • Annually audits the Membership Works vendor process to ensure membership renewal reminders/notices are being automatically sent to all current and past members.


Member At Large

  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participation in at least 75% of Board conference calls/meetings.

  • Establish and chair a nomination committee to prepare a full slate of Board of Director candidates, and ensure that the elections for new chapter officers are held in accordance with the ISHRM bylaws.

  • With the Past President, establish and chair a sponsorship recruitment/retention committee. Committee shall involve maintenance/enhancement of sponsorship section on ISHRM’s website (in collaboration with ISHRM’s website vendor).

  • Establish and chair a membership recruitment/retention committee. Committee shall involve maintenance/enhancement of membership recruitment/retention section on ISHRM’s website (in collaboration with ISHRM’s website vendor). Committee also sends acknowledgement emails to new members (when notified by Treasurer). The letters will contain a brief organizational overview and orientation to the web site.

  • Establish and chair a website and social media content committee. Work in collaboration with ISHRM’s website vendor to maintain ISHRM’s digital marketing strategy.


Secretary

  • Serves as a member of the Board of Directors (“Board”).

  • Participation in at least 75% of Board conference calls/meetings.

  • Prepare and maintain an accurate record of the proceedings of the following meetings:

    1. Board of Directors

    2. Annual membership 

    3. Any other meetings as needed

  • Record an accurate count of attendance at each Board meeting and report in minutes.

  • Responsible for distribution of annual membership meeting minutes to the membership in a timely manner (via posting on the members-only ISHRM website section. 

  • Prepare any correspondence as directed by the President or President Elect.
